Sort of like the game you played as a kid--each week's challenge will be to begin your installment where the last week's "winning" article left off. You may begin with last week's final line or make up your own, but the end of the selected installment from the previous week MUST be the starting point of your story. Stories will be judged for creativity, continuity, ingenuity and a bunch of other "ity" words, as well as a cliffhanger ending that leaves the readers wanting more, and writers a place to jump off!
You can change the mood, tempo, style, genre, etc., as long as you keep the basics intact (characters, setting, etc.), or at least show how your changes relate to the original. My criteria will not necessarily be for your artistry (although it can't hurt!) but for how well and creatively you work off of the previous installments, and of course, that great last line. 200--1000 words. Deadline for weekly submissions is Saturday 8:00 PM ET. I'll announce the "winning" installment on Sunday by 6:00 PM. That's the article you'll start from for the next week's challenge, remembering that it's a serial story, and each installment must build on all the weekly winning episodes before it. So here's the lowdown: 1) ONE episode or installment will be chosen each week; 2) All entries for the next week will then continue off of that episode; 3) Installments should be 200--1000 words long, can be in any genre, mood, etc., as long as there is continuity of basic characters, setting, plot, etc.; 4)**Entries should include a cliffhanger ending (except the 10th and final episode)**; 5)There will be a total of 10 weekly installments for this storyline. The 10th installment, which will be announced, must bring all the elements of the story together, and provide a conclusion that makes sense in the context of the story. 6) The winning entry of the 10th (concluding) episode will provide the first line of the next story, and we'll start again. 7) Authors may do a small amount of grammatical/linguistical editing and correction of minor discrepancies or incongruities before the entries are due on Saturday night, but otherwise, entries will be judged as first published, so please make sure you have read all the installments and have a good grasp of the story before publishing! 8)All prior and current installments of the story will be , published in order each week, featured on the group page, and the winning installment will be identified so that entrants may know where to begin the next segment. 9) After the final installment is selected, the group moderator will put all the parts of the story in order, and with the permission of the authors, make any adjustments necessary for continuity, grammar, etc., and will feature the story on the group page. Any other use of the story will be determined by the writers collectively, and all rights to individual portions of the story will be retained by the authors. Group Stats
